A key witness in the murder trial of the Eldoret-based police woman accused of fatally shooting her husband 12 times in October 2023 testified in court on Thursday, intimating that the officer acted in defense of her children's lives after the deceased allegedly threatened them.

Sharon Jepchirchir, the house help of Police Constable Lilian Biwott, told Justice Reuben Nyakundi of the Eldoret High Court that the officer used a G3 rifle to pump her husband, Victor Kipchumba, full of lead at their family home in Kimumu Estate on the night of October 9, 2023.

Jepchirchir told the court that she overheard Kipchumba accusing the suspect of infidelity during a phone call preceding the fatal encounter.

She added that Kipchumba told Lilian that he would kill their three children for her alleged actions.

Jepchirchir testified that after the phone call, an armed Lilian arrived home from her work station at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Eldoret branch, before proceeding to the bedroom to confront her husband.

An hour passed by before Jepchirchir, who was in an adjacent bedroom, heard multiple gunshots emanating from the couple's bedroom. Lilian left the scene after the incident.

She has since denied the murder charges and is being held at the Eldoret GK Women's Remand Prison as the trial continues.
