Shilling losing against dollar

The Kenyan shilling on Tuesday edged down slightly under pressure from corporate demand for dollars.

According to Reuters, traders said the shilling was still held within its recent narrow band.

According to the Central Bank of Kenya, the Kenyan shilling is currently exchanging at an indicative rate of 102.10 buying, 102.30 selling to the dollar.

Earlier Tuesday, commercial banks posted the shilling at 102.25 buying, 102.35 selling per dollar.

The Kenyan unit is exchanging at 108.56 buying, 108.80 selling versus the euro while trading at 154.71 buying, 155.05 selling to the Sterling Pound.

On the regional front, the Kenyan currency is largely unchanged, trading at 7.23 buying, 7.29 selling to the Rwandese Franc, 21.12 buying, 21.26 selling to the Tanzanian shilling and at 32.94 buying, 33.10 selling to the Ugandan shilling.
