Gospel singer Size 8’s mum passes on

Just one day after receiving good news of the birth of her granddaughter, Ladasha Belle, the mother of popular gospel singer Linet Munyali better known Size 8, has passed on.

Esther Njeri Munyali succumbed to kidney-related complications Friday evening.

Size 8 took to her official Instagram page Friday to break the sad news.

She wrote: “God I come before you, thank you for blessing me with a new life, Ladasha Belle, and also taking away at the same time for you know best. Rest in Peace my dear mum, Esther Njeri Munyali.”

Size 8’s husband DJ Mo sent a post on social media which read: “A life was given and another one was taken. Let’s stand with wife (Size 8). Rest in Peace mum.”

Mrs. Munyali has been battling kidney failure for the past four years.

In May 2015, Size 8 opened up to the public about her mum’s health. She disclosed she (mum) needed to be flown to India urgently for a kidney operation.

“She (mum) has been going for dialysis at the Nairobi Hospital, twice or thrice a week, which is Sh20, 000 per session and this has completely drained us financially,” Size 8 told The Standard.

A fundraiser was later held at the Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) Valley Road where friends and fans turned up in numbers to raise the Ksh2.5 million that was needed for Mrs. Munyali’s surgery.

She was flown to India for the operation; which was successful, and later returned to the country where she has since been taking her medication.
