I wont introduce different women to my children, says Bahati

Kenya’s top gospel singer Bahati has divulged that he hopes to find his better half in 2016.

The multi-award winning singer says the year will not end before he gets a suitable woman to mother his children: Rose, (10), Purity (4), and Morgan (4).

“Soon I’ll start dating. Actually, this year won’t end with me still being single. I am taking my time because I don’t want to do things hurriedly and out of pressure.”

In a culture where men are traditionally expected to be, ‘the hunters’, the Lover singer has said that he is willing to be the ‘prey’.

“If a lady sees she has what it takes to be my partner, she too can look out for me (laughs),” Bahati said in an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital.

Even though he is keen to find a partner, the gospel industry whiz says he does not want to introduce several women to his three children as this could confuse them.

“I am hoping for the best; relationships are very sensitive matters. The position I am in currently, has taught me responsibility. I cannot afford to introduce different women to my children every other day. I have to be careful,” said Bahati.

What are the qualities of that potential girlfriend?

“She should be God-fearing and understanding – she has to know that I am a social person and a giver. I can perform at a show and donate all the money paid out to me. I can love every kind of woman; but she has to share and believe in my vision.”

Bahati recently dropped off the radar following allegations that some members of the gospel industry were plotting against him.

This writer asked the singer if things could have been different had he be in a stable relationship during the period.

“Probably she (girlfriend) could have even misguided me; or perhaps she could have even supported me,” he responded.

Bahati explained why he chose to deactivate his social media handles and switch off his phone in the past month.

“I wanted to go away from the buzz of the city; from people… and just meditate on my life. I wanted to get closer to God. I wrote most of the lyrics of Itakuwa Sawa while I was in Makueni. The development of the song was inspired by the tough period (January, 2016) I went through.”
