Man bites off wifes nose, eats it for failing to pick call

A man at Shandong province in China bit off his wife’s nose and swallowed it because she didn’t pick up his phone calls, reports Shangaiist.

The pair from the city of Dezhou allegedly got into a fight after the woman did not answer her estranged husband’s calls after a late work shift on September 6.

Furious, the man confronted his wife at her home the next day and the two got into a heated fight.

At one point, he grabbed her, locked his teeth onto her nose and ripped the thing off, reports further say.

The woman was taken to a hospital in Jinan, where doctors found that her entire nose, including the soft tissue, was gone.

When asked whether she’d managed to collect the disconnected body part for reattachment, she informed the surgeons that her husband had eaten it.

The woman, partially identified as Ms Yang, told Shangdong Television station: “And the next thing I knew, he pushed my head towards the way and ate my nose in one go.”

Doctors have claimed the damage to Ms Yang’s nose is so severe that she will require extensive surgery.

The woman’s husband still remains at large and police have launched investigation into the incident.

This is not the first case of a person biting off a nose in China.

In 2013 there was a similar incident where a middle-aged man bit off his wife’s nose at Anhui province after a spousal argument.

The woman later underwent facial reconstruction surgery to repair her nose using pieces of her rib cartilage.
