PHOTOS: Morgan Heritage Extravaganza was a success!

The Morgan Heritage Extravaganza was a massive success!

The event, which took place Saturday night at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), saw electrified performances by top Kenyan acts and the royal Morgan family.

The fete pulled thousands of reggae lovers who braced the cold night just to enjoy the much anticipated reggae show.

Local artistes: Vivian, Timmy and Kristoff set the stage with their elite performances, before celebrated songstress Avril charged up the gathering with her seductive, energetic dance moves.

Avril performed her loved hits: Nikimuona, Hello Baby, Hakuna Yule among others.

Veteran singer Nameless did not disappoint; he took the crowd back to early 2000’s when he performed his hit songs: Ninanoki, Maisha, Juju, Mega Rider among others.

Nameless invited Mr. Lenny whom he featured in Juju to the stage and did justice to the show.

Victoria Kimani: she killed it!

The curvaceous Chocolate City diva performed her big hits: Toto, Prokoto and Show – which were well received by the attendees of the event.

Victoria Kimani then invited her rapper brother, Bamboo and feted artiste, Abbas Kubaff, on stage and in sync sang along as the energized crowd cheered them on.

Despite Vicky lamenting there’s more support accorded to her by fans in Nigeria than in Kenya, Saturday night proved to her otherwise – that she is loved, celebrated and respected in Kenya!

This piece highlighting the reggae culture, fete could not have been complete without mentioning singer Wyre.

‘The Love Child’: always cool, humble and collected; did his thing on the podium – nailed the show!

Wyre performed his treasured hits: She Said Dat, Uprising, Chuki among other songs.

Other celebrities who were present at the event include: artistes Kenzo Matata, Wahu, Denise Gordon, Fidempa, Rapdamu, Hot 96 FM presenters: Joey Muthengi, Coco, Rapcha the Sayantist, Shixx Kapyenga, Radio Citizen’s Willy Tuva, Citizen TV anchor Kirigo Ng’arua among other public figures.

Security was beefed up in and around the fete’s venue. Food, and drinks too were in plenty!

The crowd which turned up was dressed in a manner synonymous with rastafari colours, flew flags christened with reggae legend Bob Marley’s image high, with some flying Jamaican and Kenyan flags.

The Heritage family took to the stage at 1:00AM, with Gramps Morgan’s son Jemere Morgan kicking off the grand performance.

Later, lead singer Peter Morgan took control of the mic and churned hits after another; exciting the crowd which was typically left in awe and excitement.

The Morgan family performed for a full two hours!

Their performance had such an impact such that by the time they were leaving stage at 3:25AM, the crowd was left begging for more!

However, the show continued until wee hours of the morning with Hot 96 FM DJ playing the best mix of reggae and roots.

The MC, Filipo, effortlessly kept the dancers on their feet with witty lines.
