1 dead, 4 injured in Bomet accident

One person died and four others were seriously injured following a road accident at Kapjames area on the Bomet- Narok highway early Saturday morning.

It is reported that the accident occurred when a personal car and a lorry collided head-on killing the driver of the personal car on the spot.

Bomet OCPD Abel Sande says the lorry, which was travelling in the opposite direction, veered off its lane and rammed into the car head on.

The injured are receiving treatment at Longisa County Referral Hospital, in Bomet.

Infrastructure PS John Mosonik has warned motorists to be extra careful as the rains could cause floods on roads, endangering passengers.

Speaking in a live interview on Citizen TV, Mosonik warned driver against driving on flooded roads.

“Drivers should keep off flooded roads, even if the water levels appear to be low. With the heavy rains, flash floods can occur and cars can be swept away instantly,” he stated.

He urged public service vehicle owners to prioritise safety over profits.
