9 MCAs locked out of governor’s Naivasha lodge meeting

Drama ensued at Sawera Lodge in Naivasha after nine members of Murang’a County assembly were barred from entering the governor’s meeting for purportedly supporting a fundraiser of Jamleck Kamau – a politician who is also eyeing the Murang’a gubernatorial seat in the 2017 election.

It is alleged that uniformed men were deployed to cordon off the facility in a bid to block the MCAs from attending the meeting.

Hitherto, claims have since surfaced on social media that the governor’s personal assistant was involved in an altercation with the county deputy boss.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on phone, Murang’a Deputy governor, Gakure Monyo, confirmed that the MCAs were indeed blocked, and that he is to release a press statement about the incident on Monday.

“The MCAs were denied access to the meeting, but I will call a press conference to state what happened,” Monyo disclosed.

The forum was held to review the county’s budget and deliberate on the implementation of projects.

Attempts to reach governor Mwangi wa Iria for comment were futile as his phone went un answered.
