Apologise or face the law, Nkaissery tells Raila

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has demanded an apology from Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga for allegedly insulting him.

Speaking at Maparasha Village in Kajiado Central on Sunday, Nkaissery claimed that the CORD leader had on various occasions insulted him, adding that he has had enough and would now seek the counsel of his lawyers.

During his visit to Kajiado Central last week, Mr Odinga said that CS Nkaissery is like a housefly that fell into a cup of milk and died.

At the same time, Mr Odinga said that the CS was like a dog that was fooled by the reflection of a bone in water and gave up the bone it had.

Nkaissery warned that if Raila does not apologise for the remarks he would sue him.

He further called on politicians to campaign peacefully.

This comes barely two weeks after Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery warned leader Raila Odinga against inciting the Law Society of Kenya and the public to have him resign over the rising cases of extra-judicial killings.

Nkaissery said he would not step aside unless requested to do so by his appointing authority, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I cannot resign because somebody just want me to resign; I will remain in office until the person who gave me the job tells me to resign,” he said.

The CS absolved himself from blame over cases of rogue police officers, adding that he has ordered the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to take action over undisciplined officers.

“We already know that action has already been taken against the officers involved, the case is in court. Therefore, I don’t see the reason for politician bickering and calls for my resignation. I have played my part as a Cabinet Secretary and the rest is left with the court.” Nkaissery
