Businessman stabs customer over Sh20

Police in Migori on Friday morning rescued a businessman from a mob after he allegedly stabbed his customer over Sh20.

The businessman operating Tawakal Spares shop in Migori allegedly stabled a motorcycle rider after they failed to agree on the price of a side mirror.

Eyewitnesses claim that the rider paid Sh150 for the side mirror costing Sh170 and assured the businessman of settling the remaining Sh20 after fixing the mirror a few meters from the shop.

Joseph Otieno, an eyewitness, said the two failed to agree on the terms and the shop owner stabbed the rider using a knife.

The incident attracted a mob that wanted to lynch the businessman, who locked himself in the shop till the police came to his rescue and dispersed the irate mob by lobbing teargas canisters.

Members of the public had looted goods of an unknown amount of money before police arrived at the scene.

The businessman was escorted to the police station under tight security.
