Deputy IG Grace Kaindi appointed envoy in police service shake-up

President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated the Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi as an Ambassador of Kenya.

Kaindi, however, will wait for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to redeploy her to her new work station.

She will be replaced by Mr. Joel Kitili with immediate effect on an acting capacity until another Deputy Inspector General of Police is appointed.

“To ensure a smooth transition and continue the ongoing reforms in the National Police Service, I have nominated Mr.  Joel Kitili, as acting Deputy Inspector General, with immediate effect, and until the substantive processing of appointment of the next DIG takes place,” read Kenyatta’s statement.

“Further, in an effort to consolidate the government’s efforts to combat terrorism and counter violent extremism, I have appointed Ambassador Martin Kimani as the Director of the National Counter Terrorism Centre.”

The National Counter Terrorism Centre boss Isaac Ochieng has also been appointed to serve as Ambassador of Kenya. He also awaits redeployment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
