Doctor who was stabbed 18 times by son dies

A doctor who was stabbed by his son last week has succumbed to his injuries at a city hospital.

Dr. Michael Amolo died Monday at Mater Hospital where he was in a coma after his 25-year-old son reportedly stabbed him 18 times after a disagreement.

The 57 year old medical practitioner at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu was the husband of the late ODM Homa Bay County acting ODM branch chairperson Monica Amolo.

CORD leader Raila Odinga has mourned the late Dr. Amolo saying he will be remembered as a dedicated medic.

“I wish to convey my heartfelt sympathies to the family of Dr Amolo at this moment of pain. I also express very sincere condolences to the many friends of the late medic and the people he served in different roles as a leading health worker in different parts of Kenya,” read Odinga’s statement in part.

“Dr Amolo was a trailblazer in his profession as a medic. His legacy lives on particularly in Nyanza where he seamlessly combined medical work with community service to uplift his people. We mourn with the people of Kisumu and Nyanza in general where Dr Amolo spent the last years of his service.”
