DP Ruto calls for immediate ending of cattle rustling in Borabu-Sotik

Deputy President William Ruto has called for an end to cattle rustling activities along the Borabu-Sotik border in Nyamira and Bomet Counties.

Ruto asked Nyamira and Bomet County Commissioners to work together and ensure the vice is eradicated.

“You have no other job, first, it is to ensure that the property, business and lives are protected. We have added vehicles to ensure that you are able to do your jobs,” Ruto told the County Commissioners.

The DP promised that he would have security officers added in the area.

“We have employed 10,000 new police recruits who are currently undergoing training in Kiganjo, we will ensure some of those trainees will come to Nyamira and Bomet,” said Ruto.

He told residents in the area to focus their energies on education as the only way to fight poverty and ignorance noting that cattle theft has no room in the 21st century.

“It is impressive that acts of cattle thefts have drastically reduced in this region but we want it eradicated once and for all,” said the Deputy President.

“Many people have ventured in other businesses, yet the people here are still in the stock theft business,” he added.
