DP Ruto in Israel for three-day State visit

Deputy President William Ruto arrived in Israel Monday morning for a three-day State visit.

Just hours after his arrival, Ruto held talks with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on security issues with keen focus being corporation in combating terrorism which has adversely affected Kenya’s tourism sector.

The meeting also focussed on improving agriculture, irrigation, water desalination and health.

On his part, Netanyahu promised to assist Kenya combat terrorism by sharing intelligence and improving technology.

Israel has been Kenya’s closest partner in the fight against terrorism with Israel Ambassador to Kenya Yahel Vilan stating his country’s willingness to root out terrorism in the country during his address to the press in May this year.

Kenya has been keen on strengthening its foreign relations with different countries, with Ruto’s trip coming days after Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete was in the country for a three-day visit which was followed closely by President Kenyatta’s three-day state visit in Uganda.

Kenya has also engaged in bilateral talks with other trade partners including the United States, the UK, United Arab Emirates, Italy, France, and Nigeria among other countries.
