Drama as Senator is attacked with stones

Drama unfolded in Ol Kalou town on Monday after irate residents pelted stones to Nyandarua Senator Muriuki Karue’s motorcade in opposition of a meeting he had convened in the area.

The Senator had called for a meeting in Ol Kalou town to address the Auditor General report that has implicated the county in funds misappropriations.

However, hundreds of youth and supporters of Governor Daniel Waithaka gathered at the Ol Kalou’s Kamukunji grounds with the intention of disrupting the meeting.

They accused the Senator of planning the meeting with an aim of tarnishing the Governor’s name for his own selfish interests.

It took the intervention of police to disperse the irate residents who turned chaotic just minutes after the arrival of the Senator.

The residents said it was wrong to criticize the county government and said the Senator should have taken the report to the county assembly for debate.

Later on the residents matched to the Governor’s office demanding that he addresses them. In his address, the Governor defended claims that his county had misappropriated Ksh 400 million over the last one year.
