Film Board bans Girls Only party slated for Saturday

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has banned a “Girls Only” party that was to take place on Saturday, July 30th in the capital Nairobi.

KFCB Chief Executive Ezekiel Mutua took to Facebook Thursday to claim that the “Girls Only” implies the event will be an orgy of lesbians.

“Bearing one of the variations of the Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, the so called colours of pride, the notice suggests that attendees will be lesbians,” he wrote.

He immediately called off the party, warning that breach of the ban will attract dire consequences – but within spectrum of the law.

“Like in the case of the foiled Project X, the Board is privy to information that there will be filming of pornographic content during the orgy,” he added.

The Film Board boss says he has informed police about the party, and that they are investigating the matter.

“The owners of the premises have denied ever organising the event or generating the poster being circulated online,” he said.

The party was scheduled for Saturday at the Juniper Kitchen in Westlands.

The attendees were to pay Ksh1,000 for advance tickets and Ksh 1,500 at the gate.
