Former First Lady Lucy Kibakis requiem mass, burial open to public
As preparations for the burial of the former First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki continue, the organizing committee led by Foreign Affairs PS Karanja Kibicho and Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe now say the Wednesday mass will be open to public.
Those wishing to attend have been advised to be sitted by 9:30AM at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands.
The committee has further advised Kenyans to adorn yellow ribbons as a symbol of their celebration of her life as they mourn.
During the release of the programme at Harambee House, the organizing committee said that the official convoy carrying her body will leave Lee Funeral Home then make its way to Arwings Kodhek Road, Valley Road, Kenyatta Avenue, Uhuru Highway, Chiromo lane before terminating at Consolata Shrine for the mass.
During the briefing, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho said that the body will on Saturday leave for Othaya for an interdenominational service at Othaya Approved School before a private burial ceremony.
President Uhuru Kenyatta together with other dignitaries are expected to join former President Mwai Kibaki and his family for the requiem mass.
