Four dead, three injured in Molo road accident

Four people died on the spot Thursday afternoon after the vehicle they were traveling in collided head-on with a lorry at Jogoo Trading Centre in Molo, along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway

Three other occupants of the saloon vehicle sustained serious injuries and are admitted at the Molo District  Hospital.

Molo Traffic Base Commander, Inspector Moses Nderitu, said that the saloon car, Toyota Wish in model, collided with the lorry that was overtaking another vehicle.

An eye witness, Joseph Wainaina, said the saloon car was speeding from Eldoret heading to Nakuru while the lorry was heading the opposite direction when the two vehicles collided.

Mr Wainaina claimed that the driver of the saloon car might have been escaping arrest by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officials after he declined to stop at the roadblock at Total area along the highway.

The month of August has seen more than 20 people die at spot, considered a black spot.
