I apologise to Kenyans for fixing Ruto Moses Kuria

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has apologised to Kenyans for apparently fixing Deputy President William Ruto and Radio journalist Joshua Arap Sang at the International Criminal Court.

In an interview on Citizen TV’s The Big Question show, Kuria expressed his remorse for the role he played in procuring witnesses that were used to implicate Ruto and Sang at the ICC.

“I have already apologised to Ruto’s wife Rachel and their kids who are my good friends as well as the parents of Sang for the role I played in the cases facing them,’ said Moses Kuria.

Responding to claims by Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa that he is being used by Jubilee to push for the dismissal of the ICC cases, Kuria said he is mature enough to make his own decisions.

“I am 44 years old, I do not think anyone can force me to do something I do not want to do,” Moses Kuria stated.

The TNA MP noted that Kenya is embedded in a lie with regards to the ICC cases facing Ruto and Sang adding that his conscience cannot allow him to stay mum on the matter.

He challenged ODM leader Raila Odinga to also apologise for allegedly fixing Ruto at the ICC through the letter he purportedly wrote to the UN Security Council advocating against the deferral of the cases.

“Odinga should also apologize for his role in fixing Ruto and come forward to be a witness for the Deputy President in order for him to be exonerated,” stated Kuria.

Wamalwa, however, stated that Raila Odinga, who is also CORD leader, does not need to apologise because he has nothing to do with the cases facing Ruto and Sang.

The Kiminini MP refuted claims by Kuria that Odinga played a part in fixing Ruto saying he could not have done so since they were in the same party – ODM.

Touching on the Kriegler report, Kuria claimed that both ODM and the now defunct PNU procured fake witnesses to tilt the findings in their favour.

“The Kriegler report was a political affair. ODM procured witnesses to testify that PNU rigged the elections while PNU, on their part, procured witnesses to defend their win,” said Kuria.

He claimed that ICC prosecutors used the report to base their case, adopting some of the people in the report as their witnesses.

A fortnight ago, Moses Kuria revealed that he had bribed the witnesses Ksh 2,000 to give false testimony against Ruto and Sang wondering why it had taken long for ICC to question him on the matter.

The ICC issue has turned into an emotive debate in the past weeks, since Kuria’s pronouncement that PNU and ODM fixed Ruto and Sang at the ICC.

Kuria claimed that the two parties, who were the main contenders in the 2007 elections, wrote to the ICC with names from the opposing party, pointing figures at each other over the 2007/08 post-election violence.

He claimed that PNU, led by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua included Ruto and Sang’s names in the list, allegations that Karua has refuted, while ODM wrote names of PNU members.

Odinga and the then Secretary General Anyang Nyong’o have distanced themselves from Kuria’s claims while calling for his prosecution for interfering with ICC cases.
