I dont have a Mumias Sugar debt-Odinga

I do not owe Mumias Sugar Company anything, CORD Leader Raila Odinga has said.

Speaking at Chemelil in Kisumu County, Odinga rubbished allegations that he has unsettled debts with crippled sugar giant.

He further challenged those claiming that he owes Mumias Sugar Company money to come clear and table the evidence.

Deputy President William Ruto and Majority Leader Aden Duale have both linked the Cord leader to the mess at the sugar factory in the ongoing debate about the Uganda sugar deal.

The former PM told the public to be wary of those who are using his name to ‘cheap politics’.

Commenting on the Uganda sugar deal, Odinga said the Jubilee government must focus building this country, not thwart the farmers’ efforts in this country.

Odinga’s comments come just a day after Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni criticized him about his opposition to the importation deal.

Addressing the East African Legislative Assembly in Kampala, Mueveni said that those fighting the deal are wasting their time.

“I was surprised that my brother Raila Odinga was attacking the sugar deal…I will have to ring him and tell him please don’t waste our time,” he said.

The Ugandan president applauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for backing the deal, adding that it would beneficial to the county.
