I’m not a “Super Minister”, Waiguru says

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has refuted claims that she is favoured among other cabinet secretaries in government.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Big Question show, Waiguru said that rumours being peddled about her being favoured by President Uhuru Kenyatta are perpetuated by malicious individuals opposed to her work.

“In life there are people who will like you and those who will not, in most cases those who do not like you will say all manner of things about you,” Waiguru said.

She added that all cabinet secretaries have close working relations with President Kenyatta, noting that none is considered more superior to the other.

Waiguru also rubbished criticism on her personality saying only those who do not like to work hard find her arrogant.

“I work hard and only those who do not like to work hard find me pushy and arrogant,” she said.

Commenting on the recent impeachment attempt, the cabinet secretary said there is no strained relation between her and Deputy President William Ruto’s Chief of Staff Mary Keitanny, who is accused of funding a push to oust her from office.

“I am not sure if Mary Keitanny was behind the motion to remove me from office, I still consider her a colleague,” she said.

Waiguru further clarified that she does not have any political ambitions saying her efforts at the National Youth Service (NYS) are aimed at empowering the youth and not a means of gaining political mileage.
