Indiscipline cause of school unrest Senator Kivuti

Embu Senator Lenny Kivitu has attributed the increased cases of school unrest to indiscipline among students.

Kivitu noted that the cases of burning of schools is not instigated from outside schools noting that there is something that has gone wrong with the education system.

“Out of many schools burnt so far, only a handful are girls’ schools. Does that mean that boys have a higher level of madness than girls?” he questioned.

“I think it is because of laxity in discipline and schools Principals should be held responsible for this. When you see a neighboring school in ashes, you should put in place measure to prevent the same from happening in your school.”

He said that schools should streamline their management team to be able to engage on better ways of solving the unrests.

He added that as primary managers, school principals should put in place measure to prevent unrests in their schools.

“When we burn schools we lose curriculum, morality and life. For instance, there is an incident where a student was burn inside a dormitory.”

This comes as two schools were reportedly burnt late Monday as the cases of arson in schools increase.

Two dormitories at Watuka Boy’s High school in Kieni, Nyeri County and one dormitory at Aitong Boarding School in Masaai Mara, Narok County were set ablaze by late Monday.

No injuries were reported.
