Jubilee Alliance Party members will not lose seats, Duale assures

The yet to be formed Jubilee Party has created a transition clause that will allow disgruntled members of the coalition parties to complete their terms in office without loosing their seats.

Revealing this, Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale said this was achieved by amending the Political Parties Act.

“Because we believe in the rule of law we have brought an amendment to the Political Parties Act. It has gone through the National Assembly, it is now at the Senate and we expect the Senate to conclude that process by the first week of June, and by mind June we expect to call all the parties to Kasarani to officially launch the party,” he said.

There has been growing resistance from a section of both TNA and URP party members who feel that the merger will lock them out of the nomination process and they may not have a fall back incase they miss on the ticket.

Speaking in Garissa during the 4th graduation ceremony at Najah Children’s home, Duale said the coalition partners were in the final stages of merging the parties into one.

“We are now at the final stage of merging our parties into one big party called the Jubilee Alliance Party,” he said.

“Our members will transit to the new party without losing their seats. It is a very democratic process and we will not force anybody,” he said.

Duale noted that the reason for the merger was to unite Kenyans along religious, ethnic and regional lines.
