Kenyas National Anthem excites the world

As Kenyans celebrated a historic medal haul at the just concluded Rio Olympics, the world was going wild over the country’s national anthem.

The anthem, which was played at the closing ceremony as Eliud Kipchoge received his gold medal, sparked a buzz on social media platforms, with users around the world describing it as epic, majestic and hauntingly beautiful.

People around the world then took to Twitter going wild about a tune so close to the hearts of Kenyans.

The Kenyan national anthem is based on a Pokomo lullaby and was written by the Kenya Anthem Commission shortly before independence in 1963.

People around the world took up to comparing Kenya’s anthem with those of other countries with most of them drawing a conclusion that the Kenyan one was the best.

Kenya’s anthem was played six times at the Rio Olympics as the country clinched six gold medals.
