Kericho traffic commander arrested over corruption claims

Kericho Traffic Base Commander James Kiili is being held at Kericho Police Station after he was arrested by the Ethics and Anti corruption officers for allegedly taking a Sh5,000 bribe from a motorist.

According to one of the officers who spoke on condition of anonymity, Kiili was arrested in his office after allegedly taking the bribe from a motorist whose vehicle had been impounded.

He said the Base Commander demanded the money from the motorist so as to release his vehicle which he had allegedly impounded for the second time.

The motorist is said to have reported to the EACC officers about harassment by Kiili, who was later ambushed taking the bribe from the motorist.
