Koffi Olomide was harassed by police, Lawyer claims

Congolese Musician Koffi Olomide’s lawyer George Wajackoyah has claimed that his client was harassed by police, and his detention at the JKIA police station was against the constitution.

Wajackoyah added that he has not seen the video that has gone viral, stating that they had planned to go to court on Monday over the matter.

“Koffi got the worst police treatment and was harassed, contrary to the constitution of Kenya,” claimed the lawyer.

Wajackoyah claimed that whoever gave the orders for Koffi’s arrest was malicious and they violated the constitution.

“You cannot deport a person without fairness. He (Koffi) was not given time to respond. The right procedure was not followed,” he said.

“They have deported him without his passport. We had planned to go to court on Monday, and the government rushed to deport him because they knew there is no case,” he claimed.

Olomide was deported to Kinshasa, DR Congo following his Friday morning altercation at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Olomide was filmed attacking one of his female dancers at the airport – an incident that lead to his arrest at Royal Media Services following a live TV interview where he denied assaulting his dancer.

Olomide was expected to headline a mega show at the Bomas of Kenya on Saturday.
