KRA, KEBS stamps nabbed in illicit brew crackdown
Police in Nakuru have arrested seven suspects linked to the sale of second generation liquor valued at millions of shillings in Milimani estate.
Several drums of ethanol, distilling apparatus and bottle cocking machines were netted in the 11:00pm raid.
Nakuru OCPD, Joshua Omukata, who led the operation, said that stamps and stickers purported to be from the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Kenya Bureau of Standards were also recovered.
Omukata, who was accompanied by Nakuru Town West Deputy County Commissioner, Elmi Shaffi, and Nakuru Central OCS, Bamfort Tsurwa, said that the real owner of the house where the consignment was discovered is yet to be established though preliminary investigations indicate that the house belongs to a top politician in the area.
Omukata further added that the crackdown on second generation liquor will continue, warning prosecution of those found culpable regardless of their social status.
Among the brands of liquor netted include gold star, gold tyms, summer ice lite, blue rider, the chase, sparkler and survivor.
Nakuru Town West Deputy County Commissioner, Elmi Shaffi, said that the suspects will be charged once investigations are complete.
