Lawyers to down tools if Nkaissery, Boinnet fail to resign

Lawyers are now demanding the resignation of Interior CS Joseph Nkaiserry and the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet over the alleged involvement of three police officers in the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani and two other people.

Speaking at Milimani Law Courts, Law Society of Kenya chair Isaac Okero warned that lawyers will petition the removal of Nkaiserry should he fail to step aside immediately after bodies of the three were retrieved from River Athi in Machakos County.

Okero has also demanded the interdiction of the three officers suspected to be involved in the murders, who are in police custody, and their firearms confiscated.

LSK has also intimated that all lawyers countrywide will down their tools from Monday next week for a full week while donning purple ribbons in protest as well as remembrance the fallen lawyer.

The legal body has further demanded that Syokimau Police Post be closed over numerous complaints which Okero says have been received over officers attached there.
