Nakuru Governor say CORDs anti-IEBC protests shameful

Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has lashed out at the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) brigade over their continued anti-IEBC demonstrations noting that they are aimed at plunging the country into chaos.

The Governor accused the coalition’s top leadership of misusing unemployed youth to cause mayhem in the City and rob members of the public.

Mbugua was speaking just a day after chaos broke in Nairobi after CORD supporters marched to IEBC headquarters, something that forced police to lob teargas to disperse them.

The protest also saw innocent Kenyans lose their property through robberies from a section of thugs claimed to be part of the demonstrators. Shops are also said to have been looted during the march.

“We have seen ordinary mwananchi arrested for causing mayhem during the demonstration and I’m wondering why their leaders are being spared,” said the Governor.

Speaking in Naivasha, Mbugua termed the planned demos every Monday by the opposition as shameful and uncalled for.

“We have a Constitution that guides us on issues like how to kick-out a constitutional body and going to the streets is not one of them.”

“The top leadership of CORD earned their wealth long time ago but they are now using youth from poor background to fight for their own selfish interest,” he said.
