No more politics of poverty and rhetoric Namwamba

Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has warned the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga against claims that the Mulembe Nation is a tribal outfit.
Namwamba said that just like Odinga mobilized the Luo community to support him, Luhya leaders have also launched a drive to consolidate the community’s support ahead of the 2017 polls.
“Having been with him, we have learnt from him and we are also trying to chant our own political path,” stated the Budalangi MP.
He called on ODM leaders to practice ‘politics of respect and tolerance’ saying Kenya is a democratic country and every person has a right to political views, affiliation and stand.

The former ODM Secretary General further challenged Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula to leave the opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) should the coalition fail to endorse him as its flag bearer in the 2017 contest.
“You can fool some people some time but you cannot fool all the people all the time. We have realised our mistakes, we have learnt from experiences and time to move on has come.”
“When you come to seek for votes in our home, please respect us. Though we have differed, respect should be paramount. When you come in our homes, sell you manifesto but let the people decide.”
Namwamba said all Luhya leaders are consulting and are ready to support one of their own come next General Election.

“Moses Wetang’ula, Cyrus Jirongo, Musalia Mudavadi and all other Luhyas are ready and willing to support one of our own. Kenyans need freshness, they need new ideas,” added Namwamba.
“We will unite to have a bargaining power to help our people. We will not embrace politics of poverty and rhetoric again. Politics should improve our people not to help leaders ascend to power.”

Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tongi, who had accompanied Namwamba and Education CS Fred Matiang’i to the Golden Jubilee of St. Benedicts High School in Budalangi, called on the youthful MP to ditch ODM for Ford Kenya saying the party will support his ideology.

“Every Kenyan has identified your capabilities, your brilliance and intellect. If you are not appreciated in the other side, join us because we are ready to embrace you. We know your capabilities,” said Tongi.
“Time has come for Luhyas to decide on their own which way to take. The time of moving in other people’s vehicle is over. You have the numbers and you only need like-minded people to change the destiny of this country,” said Tongi.
