Policewoman arrested after shooting husband for giving househelp Ksh.50

A female police officer in Kisumu is being held for attempted murder after she allegedly shot and injured her husband in their house following a domestic disagreement.

Neighbors told Citizen Digital the couple quarreled after the woman – Maureen Awuor – accused her husband of giving their househelp Ksh.50 for lunch without consulting her.

Kisumu East sub-county Police Commander Mwenda Musyimi said Constable Awuor, who is stationed at Kasagam Police Station, then shot the man twice; on the right side of the head and ear.

According to a report seen by Citizen Digital, Ms. Awuor returned to their home in Nyalenda estate at night and found the husband watching television and cocked her AK47 rifle, threatening to take her own life as well after shooting her spouse.

Neighbors who were alerted by the gun shots attempted to intervene and she again fired her gun before fleeing back to the police station to return the firearm.

The man was rushed to the Kisumu County hospital where he was treated and is now in stable condition.
