Rape cases on the rise in Embu

Rape cases on the rise in Embu

Police in Embu have recorded an increase in rape and defilement cases in the county with most of the perpetrators being fathers or relatives to the victims.

The youngest case recorded so far involves a two and half-year girl and the oldest being that of a 90-year old granny.

Embu North OCPD James Karisa and Embu County Women Rep Rose Mitaru castigated the beastly act saying those found culpable should be dealt with mercilessly.

Speaking in Manyatta, the two noted that Kibugu and Ngeneria villages recorded the highest cases.

The two leaders have said that most of the cases are not reported with family members opting to settle the cases at home rather than informing the authorities.
