Robber kills robber in mistaken identity

A suspected armed robber was accidentally shot to death early Wednesday morning by his colleague at Kathurumu village, Kanuni location in Igembe South sub-county after a man they were robbing used him as a shield.

Isaac Mutwiri, a miraa seller, said he escaped death narrowly after a four-member gang raided his residence at the wee hours of the morning and demanded that he gives them one million shillings.

Mutwiri, however, did not have the said amount and instead gave them 15,000 shillings that he had, enraging one of the robbers wielding an AK47 rifle with an aim of shooting him.

The bullet targeted at him (Mutwiri) got one of the robbers killing him on the spot.

After the shooting, Mutwiri and his wife managed to raise alarm.

The three remaining robbers fled the scene leaving behind their dead colleague.

The villagers turned their anger on the body of the deceased chopping off his manhood and cutting the body into pieces.

The locals appealed to the government to deploy more officers to the area.

The body and transferred to Meru Level Five Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
