‘Rogue’ doctor arrested for allegedly sedating, raping patients

Police have arrested a man masquerading as a doctor in Makueni after reports that he sedated a 23-year-old girl in his clinic before allegedly raping her.

The girl is said to have gone for treatment in the clinic, but the 40-year-old Dickson Mutie Mutunga was up to something.

According to Kibwezi Sub County OCPD Leonard Kimaiyo, police have been trailing the suspect, who owns ‘Tumaini Pharmacy’ in Kibwezi.

There have been several incidents in the country of ‘rogue’ doctors defiling their patients.

In September 2015, Mugo Wa Wairimu was arrested by police in Limuru for masquerading as a doctor, running a clinic illegally and allegedly sedating and raping his clients.

Mugo, who masqueraded as a gynecologist, operated two clinics in Nairobi’s Githurai and Zimmerman areas.

He was arrested after Citizen TV aired an exclusive feature showing him sedating and raping his clients.

In March 2016, Mugo was been charged afresh with twelve counts including rape, masquerading as a gynecologist and operating a clinic without valid licenses.

Mugo is also charged with illegally administering unknown drugs, operating as a pharmacist without registering with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and hiring an unlicensed laboratory technologist.
