Ruto rules out coalitions in 2017 polls

Deputy President William Ruto has ruled out a coalition in the 2017 General Elections saying there will be only one party – the Jubilee Alliance party.

Speaking at Kangaru market on Monday, Ruto said the squabbles experienced in coalitions and coalition governments are an indication that it is time for Jubilee government affiliates to form a single party for the next elections.

“In 2013 we sought election under jubilee coalition which brought together TNA, URP, APK, GNU, New Ford Kenya among other parties,” said Ruto.

“In 2017, since we have decided to unite all Kenyans as one, we will not run under a coalition but under one party, the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP).”

Ruto further reiterated his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the coming elections saying he will hold his presidential ambitions until 2022.

“In 2017, we will all unite in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta under the Jubilee Alliance Party.”

He called upon leaders to fulfill their political pledges and stop dividing Kenyans along tribal lines for their selfish gains.
