Shock as patient repeatedly stabbed to death under mysterious circumstances at KNH

A 42-year old patient was murdered under mysterious circumstances at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

The male patient, Cosmus Kenyatta, was reported dead at KNH Saturday night in what turns out to be the most confusing murder cases.

The man is alleged to have been repeatedly stabbed all over the body with blood all over the walls indicating possible signs of the struggle between him and the attacker.

Mr. Kenyatta was admitted on 5th of this month after running short of blood. After blood donations from the family members, he was treated but his health still deteriorated.

He was later diagnosed with cancer and was under treatment when he was attacked. He leaves behind a wife and four children.

Speaking at Kilimani Police station where the family members recorded a statement, his niece Ruth Mawia confirmed that he was repeatedly stabbed with a sharp object which is now in police’s possession.

Three nurses, suspected to have taken part in the heinous act and who were on duty that night, have since been arrested for further interrogations.

On arrival to the hospital Sunday morning, the family members were not allowed to visit the deceased.

They were later on summoned by the police officers and Kenyatta National Hospital Management where they were informed of what happened.

Nurses and KNH security personnel said they were not in the know of the incident.

Hata askari walisema hawajui kitendo kama hicho. Jambo la kushangaza ni kuwa mtu anaweza pita na silaha kama hiyo kwa gate na wakose kutambua? Tuliwaletea mgonjwa si maiti….wanafaa kuhakikisha usalama wa wagonjwa tunaowaletea si kusema hawajui…(the security personnel said they were not aware of what could have happened. How can someone walk freely into the hospital with a weapon without their notice? We brought a patient here and not a corpse…their work is to ensure security of all those in the hospital, not saying they are not aware),” said a seemingly angry Mawia.

Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam said they have commenced investigations into the incident and have already taken the CCTV footage from KNH for analysis and identification of the culprits.
