Shock in Murang’a as family finds kin’s grave ‘missing’

Residents of Kiambugi village in Gikindu location, Murang’a County were on Thursday treated to a rare spectacle after a family woke up to find the tombstone at the grave of one of their kin removed and planted in the neighbour’s farm.

According to the residents, the 64-year-old Susan Mwati, was buried last week after she was mysteriously murdered at her Kiambugi home.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the owner of the farm, Dola Muringo, termed the incident as horrifying, condemning the perpetrators.

“It is disturbing to have it erected on my farm because I do not know the intention of the person behind it or what it symbolizes,” said Muringo.

A Catholic Priest from Murang’a Diocese, Fr. Edward Muriithi, intervened and helped the residents return the tombstone to its original place before cleansing the place with a word of prayer.

Fr. Muriithi also condemned the executors of the act, advising the family to report the matter to police.
