Siaya Governor sued over changes in terms of employment

A section of Siaya County Public Service Board members have sued Governor Cornel Rasanga for attempting to change their terms of employment.

Ismael Noo, Joannes okere and Florence Okech went to court after members of the Public Service Board were issued with letters varying their terms of appointment from fulltime to part-time effective starting 1st August 2015.

The three board members however obtained a temporary injunction from the Kisumu High Court barring the governor from altering or varying their terms of employment pending hearing and determination of the application on September 23rd this year.

In a letter dated 21st July 2015 and signed by Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga, the public Service Board members were informed that the decision to change their terms of appointment was passed in a County Executive Committee Members meeting held on 23rd June 2015.

The Public Service Board members were required to accept and sign within seven days which elapsed yesterday, Thursday.

The new terms of employment stipulated that they now serve on part time basis for the remaining contract period which ends in March 2019.

Efforts to establish why the executive committee meeting decided to change the employment terms of the Public Service Board members proved futile since the Governor could not be reached for comment
