Students flee school after terror alert scare

Students at the Technical University of Mombasa, Kwale Campus, are now living in fear following rumors of an impending terror attack in their hostels and tuition block in Ukunda.

Students are reported to have sought accommodation from neighbors Thursday night for fear of attack in the hostels.

This comes after a letter purported to have been written by a suspected militia group at a Cybercafé was printed and student informed of the same.

“The letter gave all the information about our institution, its operations and the population of the students,” said Frankline Shiala a student at the campus.

The students now say that the administration has done little to ensure the safety and security of their stay in the institution.

The letter has since been forwarded to the police who are now investigating the issue.

Security officials in the County also say that they have increased patrol in the area and they will thoroughly investigate the issue.
