6 Students, parent, 3 teachers linked to arson released on bond

Six students, a parent and three teachers linked to the torching of a dormitory at Kabarnet Boys’ High School in Baringo County two weeks ago have been released on a Sh20,000 bond each.

The ten suspects have been in remand for the last ten days at Kabarnet Police Station as police continued with investigations into the case appeared before Kabarnet Principal Magistrate Samson Temo after a 10-day period granted to the prosecution to carry out investigations elapsed.

The court heard that at 10pm on 20th July 2016 the ten were arrested by police officers at Kabarnet and charged with arson.

In a sworn affidavit ten days ago, inspector Benson Emuget who is Criminal investigating officer (CID) at Kabarnet police station said before the court that he was investigating a case of arson contrary to section 332(a) of the penal code.

The case will be heard in August 22, 2016.
