Texas mother fatally shoots two daughters

A mother shot dead her two daughters at a home in Katy, Texas, on Friday (June 24), forcing an officer to turn a gun on her, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Officer said.

Christy Sheats, 42, died at the scene. Her daughters, Taylor Sheats and Madison Sheats, were 22 and 17-years-old, respectively.

One daughter died before emergency crews arrived, while the other died at a hospital, local media reported.

Investigators said the mother’s husband was in the home at the time of the incident but was not injured.

They also told local media that they had visited the home in the past.

No officers were injured in the shooting, according to deputies.

An investigation is underway as to what caused the shooting.
