Tharaka Nithi Governor accuses Senate of bias
Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa has accused the Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee of being biased against governors.
This comes a day after Ragwa and his county administration team appeared before the Prof. Anyang Nyong’o-led committee where he was grilled on county financial operations.
He reiterated that some of the issues raised were of no importance and seemed to be a scheme to tarnish his administration’s name by asking irritating questions.
But Ragwa has defended his administration saying that the issues and questions asked by the committee were not the agenda behind his being summoned on Wednesday.
He said that his administration is ready to answer to all queries related to the county government financial operations and statements.
On the issue of private accounts, the Governor said that standard procedures were followed as the account has to be named under the Chief Officer in charge of the department.
Ragwa questioned why the committee took four years to summon him and raising questions on his government’s spending in the previous years.
He said that the truth will be known on Thursday next week when he will appear before the committee again and this time they will have all the necessary documentation.
