Three killed, scores injured in multiple vehicles accident in Ndenderu

At least three people died and scores injured in a fatal road accident at Ndenderu, along the busy Ruaka – Limuru Road in Kiambu County.

The Sunday evening accident occurred after a lorry driver transporting sand lost control ramming into 13 vehicles.

Two people died on the spot while the third one died while undergoing treatment at a nearby health centre.

According to area Deputy OCPD Johnstone Lambira, the accident involved a lorry, a matatu, a motorbike and 11 saloon vehicles.

The injured were rushed to various hospitals including Kenyatta National Hospital for those who suffered serious injuries.

An eyewitness said that one of the killed was an elderly woman who had a metal-bar lodged into her head.

“I heard a something like an explosion from a distance, then I saw a lorry plough into vehicles that were holed up in the evening traffic,” said an eyewitness.

He added: “We tried to rescue as many people as possible before police arrived. We even had to rush some to the nearby houses for first aid.”
