Traders on cows buying mission hijacked

Police in Kirinyaga have launched investigations into a robbery incident where three businessmen from Kagio were on Wednesday robbed of over Ksh 750,000 along the Kagio-Sagana road.

According to the three traders; Nicolas Murithi, Gerald Warui and Harrisson Muthee, they were heading to Nakuru to buy cows when they were ambushed and robbed.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the traders said that the armed robbers pretended to be drunk before removing two AK47 rifles and robbed them and took off on a motorbike.

“They had guns and signaled on our car to stop, they then orders us to hand over to them all our valuables. We were so scared and gave out the Ksh 750,000 and our mobile phones without questioning,” recounted the traders.

The traders accused their driver, identified as Lawrence Maina, of colluding with the two-man gang as he was not robbed of anything and did not appear surprised.

Mwea DCIO, Boaz Otieno, said that the driver is currently being held at Wanguru Police Station where he is assisting police with investigations.
