Two killed over political differences in Migori

Two people have been killed following political differences between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and Ford Kenya supporters in Migori County.

The two, who died in separate incidences on Sunday night and Monday morning, were involved in a political scuffle with their peers before the incident.

It is, however, yet to be established which party those killed supported.

Rongo OCPD Jonathan Kisaka confirmed the incident saying investigations are underway to apprehend those responsible.

Thomas Omondi, 27, and Peter Oduor, 35, were stabbed to death in Rongo and Kanyawanda respectively. Two other people suffered serious injuries and have been hospitalised.

ODM’s Director of Elections Junet Mohamed has, however, denied the claims saying the two deaths have no links to the ongoing ODM grassroots elections but criminal activities.

ODM Elections Board chair Judy Pareno added that no incidents of chaos have been reported in Vihiga, Kajiado, Kilifi, Marsabit and Wajir counties where the polls are being held.

The grassroots elections kicked off on Saturday with elections at the polling station and ward level being held on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Grassroots elections at the Constituency level are currently ongoing.
