Women Reps Demand Job Description
The Women Representatives chairperson Cecilia Ngetich expressed concern over their roles in Parliament
Speaking early today, Ngetich said it was unfortunate that their roles in the August House have not been defined by the law.
She was speaking this morning at a meeting with the Constitution Implementation Commission.
The Women representatives who were elected in every County called on the CIC to put in place strategies that will ensure they are able to deliver on their agendas.
They said that they have drafted a bill whose aim is to ensure they take charge of funds meant for the special groups such as women and youths.
The Women representatives maintained that their positions were created to provide a platform to address issues facing special groups.
The women reps are also concerned with the slow progress of the implementation of the one-third gender rule.
CIC Commissioner Kamotho Waiganjo has assured them that CIC will draft a law aimed at ensuring that the one-third gender representation law is implemented by 2015.
The women representatives are however keen on having a legislation that will ensure they take charge of specific funds in order to execute their mandate effectively.
