Ancelotti honoured to be at Bayern

After just a fortnight in the job, Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti says he already feels honoured to be at ‘one of the most important clubs in the world’.

The Italian has had a flawless start to his tenure with three consecutive friendly victories, including a 1-0 win against Manchester City.

“I’ve only been here for two weeks and I know the history, the tradition of this club. It’s one of the most important clubs in the world and for me it will be a really fantastic experience. I am honoured to be here and I would like to do my best to try to be competitive in all competitions this year,” the Italian stressed.

He’ll next come up against some old friends when Bayern meet his former side Milan in the International Champions Cup in Chicago on Wednesday.

]”Of course, I’m going to meet some people that worked with me in Milan, that are still working in Milan. As I said, I have a really good memory of that moment, the people. What happened this year is not easy when you are not there to explain what happened. Milan’s change is politics.

“For many years, I think [Silvio] Berlusconi spent much money to keep the team at the top in Europe and I think now he’s a little bit tired of this and he tried to use another way.”

Ancelotti believes the depth in the Bundesliga champions’ squad will enable them to challenge in all competitions this season, while also lauding the improvement of American youngster Julian Green.
