Build leagues to grow Kenyan beach soccer – Harambee Sand Stars

The Kenya Beach Soccer National team Harambee Sand Stars have urged political and football leaders to form a beach soccer league in order for the sport to grow the sport in the country.

According to captain Daido Manaseh they blamed their poor performance in international matches to a lack of consistency as a result of no local leagues due to neglect from the relevant authorities.

“We don’t have active leagues that is why we are always caught unaware with different qualifiers and lose very bad,” lament the skipper.

He has at the same time called on the Football Kenya Federation to give them the same attention and support as to what Harambee Stars and Starlets are served.

“When you watch how Harambee stars and the starlets counterparts are being treated we fill like we are representing different countries,” he added.

The team was active last time in June last year when they participated in the African Beach Games in Cape Verde.

One of the Sand stars officials who did not want to be mentioned explained that team is also yet to receive their allowances since then.

The squad is still under Brazilian trained tactician Rajab Babu who was also a sports chief officer at the county government of Mombasa.
