Harrison breaks women 100m Hurdles World Record!
Kendra Harrison broke the women’s 100 metre hurdles world record to win the Diamond League race at the London Anniversary Games.
The 23-year-old, who missed out on a place at the Rio Olympics after finishing fourth in the USA trials, bounced back from that disappointment to win in 12.20 seconds.
That broke Yordanka Donkova’s 28-year-old mark of 12.21s and improved her own personal best by .04 seconds.
“I wanted to come out here with a vengeance to show these girls what I have,” Harrison told the IAAF, who finished sixth at the US Olympic Trials, missing out on selection for next month’s Olympic Games.
“That 12.40 got my confidence back. I knew I had it in me, I ran as hard as I could today.”
Harrison’s fourth Diamond League win of the year extended her lead in the race standings to 12 points.
