Homeboyz to host touch rugby in memory of slain Wekesa

Kenya Cup side Menengai Cream Homeboyz will hold a touch rugby on Sunday at Nairobi’s Jamhuri Showground in memory of Andrew Wekesa who was slain in cold blood on Sunday.

Wekesa who was a Homeboyz prop was reportedly killed following a brawl that occurred outside a bar in Mlolongo.

The touch Rugby, which is open to members of the public, will start at 3:00pm local time (+3GMT) with a fundraiser set to be conducted afterwards at the same venue.

The burial date for Wekesa has not yet been settled although January 28 has been set as the tentative awaiting family confirmation.

Police were on Tuesday given seven days by Mavoko Law Courts to complete investigation into his murder.

Wekesa joined Homeboyz in 2011 after clearing his High School, got called up to the Kenya Under 19s that same year and went on to represent the country at the C.A.R. games. He later had a short stint at Impala before returning to Homeboyz.

He played his last game for the club this season against Impala in a Kenya Cup game tie, where he picked up an injury and was scheduled to return to action in February.
